Online, Independent Study, Credit-based Classes (High School)
Location
- All high school, credit-based classes are online, self-paced, independent study courses in partnership with EdOptions Academy (formerly Apex Virtual Learning), a WASC-accredited online school. Students can access the materials and assignments from anywhere and at any time. Please note that when a student completes a section of the course, the teacher will need to unlock the next section for them to proceed. This ensures that students follow the correct pathway through the materials.
Teachers & Office Hours
- RUHS Teachers of record monitor student progress, grade some of the tests/assignments, unlock course sections, and are available for consultation during their designated office hours. Office hours are decided by each teacher and will be communicated to students after enrollment in each class. and closer to the start date of the class. While you can email your teacher anytime, you will only receive a reply during their office hours.
Proctored Exams are for Geometry Only
- Only the Geometry course requires an in-person, proctored final exam for each session at Redondo Union High School. Several options will be offered for each session, and students must select only one of the available exam times to pass the class. Alternate exam options will not be available.
Dates/Times
- Each session compacts an entire semester into three (3) weeks, and it takes students, on average, 6-7 hours a day, 5 days a week, to complete the work before the final exam. Students must complete the final exam for Session A before they can move to Session B. Students will have a total of six (6) weeks to complete both sessions.
- SESSION A: June 22 – July 10
- SESSION B: July 13* – July 31 (*If students wish to start Session B before July 13, please email your teacher)
Session A and Session B
- For courses with two (2) sessions, students must take both Session A and Session B in the same summer to receive the 10 credits. Session A covers the first semester, compacted into three (3) weeks. Session B covers the second semester, compacted into three (3) weeks. The two sessions equal a full year of coursework.
