Course description:

Unlock the magic of the stage and dive into the captivating world of theatre with our comprehensive course designed specifically for middle school-aged students. “Exploring Theatre Arts” is an immersive and hands-on experience that introduces students to various aspects of theatre in a professional and supportive environment.

Course Objectives:

Script Analysis:

● Learn the art of script analysis by exploring the nuances of symbolism, plot development, and character perspectives.

● Develop critical thinking skills through in-depth discussions on the thematic elements of selected scripts.

Set Design:

● Gain practical knowledge of set design principles, including spatial awareness, functionality, and visual storytelling.

● Engage in hands-on activities to design and create miniature sets for selected scenes.

Costume Design:

● Explore the role of costumes in conveying character traits, historical periods, and symbolism within a production.

● Design costume pieces that bring characters to life on stage.

Directing Two-Person Scenes:

● Learn the fundamentals of directing, including blocking, character motivation, and collaboration.

● Collaborate with peers to direct and perform in two-person scenes, putting theory into practice.

Collaborative Creativity:

● Foster teamwork and communication skills by working on group projects, combining talents to bring a unified vision to the stage.

● Participate in brainstorming sessions and group discussions to enhance creativity and problem-solving skills
